As a mum, we all always struggle about how to make a packed school lunch box, nutritious and healthy. This is a great school lunch builder guide for all of the lovely mums, to make their job easier. So, let’s have  look on this guide to have healthy kids school lunch ideas.

First of all, divide the school lunch items in four categories

  1. Main Meal
  2. Snack
  3. Veggies and Fruits
  4. Drinks

MAIN MEAL:

Main meal is divided into four groups and we have to add one item from each group in our child’s lunch box.

Group 1:

Whole meal bread, Pita, bagels and pasta.

Group 2:

Chicken, fish, eggs, beans and peas.

Group 3:

Sweetcorn, green peas, lettuce, tomatoes, peppers.

Group 4:

Spreads, cheese, butter.

Ideas: Now if we pick one item or two from each group we can make sandwiches, wraps, pasta and bagels of our kid’s choice and in this way they can have a healthy main dish for their school lunch.

SNACK:

In snacks, choose any two of the following or even one will do…:)

Flapjacks, crackers, crisp, bread sticks, cereal bar, dips, banana loaf bread slice, yogurt or rice pudding.

VEGGIES AND FRUITS

Select any two from the following from our five a day fruits and vegetable portions. You can add berries, grapes, banana, apple, orange, carrot, peas, broccoli, cucumber, apricot or melon or any seasonal fruit.

DRINKS

Water & Milk or Squash

So lovely mums, here is a guide to add a balanced and healthy food in your child’s school lunch full of proteins, fiber, vitamins and minerals. I hope it will make your job far easier about selecting things. If you follow this guide, your kids will have a healthy meal every day with a change of taste. Isn’t it easier and a great way for a packed school lunch.

  5. Is Squash a drink? I thought it was a vegetable. And yeah, it’s easy to have really imbalanced meals so it’s important to put a ton of thought into them, especially when we are responsible for what our kids eat!

  9. What a great article with some amazing ideas on what to make for school lunch.
    My children get 2 lunch breaks at school, and about 10 mins to eat. So most of the time, they hardly eat their lunch, and if they do eat, they have to scoff it down quick.
    I get my children involved with making all their snacks and bars for the week, and we love that.
